@marcan In an ideal world all graphics drivers should work the same for the developer/end user. If code works for Nvidia, AMD and Intel, then it should work for others. A working graphics isn't just compliant with APIs, but it is also optimized/accounted for common tasks. It's not easy to convince someone to make "workarounds" for a driver that makes up less than 1% of users. It only makes sense if any new drivers from the big three are going to be written in a similar way to the Asahi. The problem is that nobody is going to do that for the sake of backwards compatibility.

@marcan Other than the Freedesktop.org ban being fair, I agree with you. If there is a more universal way to do something, he should write it in that way. However, is there a way to get unbanned from Freedesktop.org? If yes, then he should do that and start to listen to the developers who are able to help him. If not, then someone from the Freedesktop.org needs to show him the better way. Give him some pull requests, tell him about the fixes on his discord server, write an e-mail to him. There are many ways not to force him to be on a lonely journey through the graphics stack.
